8th grade math takes a hands-on approach

8th graders started their year of math with an exploratory activity that turned them into bridge engineers. Using carefully folded paper - everyone used rulers for precision! - pennies, books, and a cup, students tested the relationship between thickness of a bridge and the amount of pennies it would take for the bridge to break. They then used the data to work on their scatter plot graphing skills!
