Hackathon with TYWLS Astoria

10 girls from the 9th grade Software Engineering class traveled to the Downtown Community Television Center to compete in a Hackathon (coding competition) about animal rescue and wildlife conservation against other software engineering schools. They coded interactive PSAs that used facts and games to raise awareness about important issues. One of our teams - Briana Rosario, Avion Tarver, and Destiny Canizares - took home first prize in their groups, winning shirts, solar hacking kits, and MaKey-MaKey inventor kids. All girls walked away with hackathon shirts and headphones to remember the experience!
