TYWLS Bronx students kept busy this summer. While many students went off to summer camps across the East Coast through Young Women's Leadership Network scholarships, other students furthered their education through summer programs.
Rising 7th and 8th graders were selected for the Practice Makes Perfect program that kept students practicing math and literacy skills in order to prevent "summer slide." One of the many reasons this program was so great was that in addition to the college student teachers, high school mentors were always in the classroom which meant a lot of personal attention!
Rising 9th graders had a great opportunity to start their high school careers with extra credits through a three week communications course. Students wrote speeches, recorded podcasts and informational videos, and engaged in mock interviews. With topics such as global injustice, physical and mental health, and career readiness, the girls were kept engaged throughout the course!
