From their website, "Urban Advantage (UA) is a standards-based partnership program designed to improve students’ understanding of scientific inquiry through collaborations between urban public school systems and science cultural institutions such as zoos, botanical gardens, museums, and science centers. We believe that their extraordinary scientific and cultural resources convey a true “urban advantage.” Urban Advantage partnerships give students opportunities to conduct hands-on investigations that engage them in science as a way of thinking and investigating rather than simply as a body of knowledge."
At the Urban Advantage Science Fair this year, Ms. May shared "The EXPO was a success. Our 7th grade group was interviewed by a parent from another school. Also, two of our 6th grade groups were interviewed by Museum teaching staff, who were overly impressed at their ability to design and articulate the explanation of their experiments."
